Langston Hughes once said, “No woman can be handsome by the force of features alone, any more that she can be witty by only the help of speech.”

It takes a great deal to achieve beauty and I am not talking about the outward signs.  Websters defines beauty as a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses.  It is also something that pleases the intellect or moral sense. In a nutshell beauty is defined as everything.

Everyone has spoken to someone at some point that was ugly, inside or out. That person may have been popular, well dressed, perfectly groomed.  But perhaps Beauty can be defined under the same outward signs.  Whether  homely, dirty, and unkempt or the prom queen, beauty is not what we assume.  It is not bound by stereotypes.

Beauty isn’t just what we’ve been given, it is about what we make it.
