I purchased this hand cream in a quest for a more available hand cream. My old time favorite Aveeno Skin Relief Hand Cream has been hard to find in the store closest to me so I needed an alternative.
Upon first glance this product looks to be pretty comparable to my favorite. Mostly in texture.
The Extended Moisture doesn't leave your hands feeling sticky or slimy. It has a faint smell, which I am not too fond of myself but is not overall unpleasant.
This hand cream is marketed as having "HYDRA IQ Technology" that is supposed to support your skin's own moisture barrier and last for over 24 hours. It is marked for very dry, rough hands. I have just those during the dead of winter, when I was trying this out.
I will be completely upfront with you on this one. My first experience with this hand cream was not a good one. As I stated before I had very dry and rough hands that were very uncomfortable before I applied this. The moment that this hand cream touched the backs of my hands I experienced burning. My initial thought was well maybe there were open cracks that were being effected. I decided to tough it out and let it do its thing.
After an hour I couldn't take it anymore and I went to wash my hands. I will say that this hand cream does pretty well when faced with washing hands. I had a great deal of trouble in getting it off. It took multiple washings but I finally was free of the irritation and burning.
I thought I would give this a try on a different day, one where my hands were not so bad. I had the same thing happen. Needless to say I won't be repurchasing this, in fact it won't every be reapplied again.
I am extremely disappointed as I grew up thinking Nivea products were luxury products for a drugstore. Luxury does not equal irritating to me.
